The trek to Mardi Himal Viewpoint is a short yet breathtaking journey into the heart of Nepal’s Annapurna region. Tucked away from the busier trails, this route offers a more peaceful and intimate experience with the Himalayas. The trail winds through lush rhododendron forests, quiet ridgelines, and traditional villages, gradually opening up to panoramic views of Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.
Reaching the Mardi Himal Viewpoint (approx. 4,200 m) feels like standing on the edge of the world — with dramatic, close-up vistas of snow-capped peaks just in front of you. It’s a moderately challenging trek, accessible to those with basic fitness, and ideal for those seeking solitude, raw nature, and unforgettable mountain scenery in just 4–6 days.
Our staff warmly welcomes you at the airport and drops you to your hotel.
We set off for a beautiful day exploring Kathmandu valley, observing historical, cultural, and monumental wonders.
Later, in the evening, we work on our details on Mardi Himal visit.
Day 03 takes you to Pokhara.
Pokhara is a picturesque lakeside city in central Nepal, known for its tranquil Phewa Lake, vibrant cafes, and stunning views of the Annapurna and Machapuchare mountains. It’s a popular gateway for trekkers and a relaxing escape offering paragliding, boating, and mountain serenity.
Beginning spectacular Mardi Himal Journey, we take short drive past Pokhara to reach at Kande town, situated on Pokhara and Beni roadways. From here, we begin on foot passing traditional houses and ranches towards Thulo Kharka AKA Australian Camp. This awesome spot offers heavenly perspectives on Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. From this wonderful spot, we walk downhill into cool shade of timberland to Potana offering beautiful view of Annapurna Himalaya and Manaslu range including magnificent Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) and little pinnacle of Mardi Himal towards Northwest.
The trek from Pothana to Low Camp is a beautiful segment of the Mardi Himal Trek, taking you from forested hills into more remote, alpine landscapes. It’s a steady ascent through lush rhododendron forests with occasional mountain views peeking through the trees.
This section of the Mardi Himal Trek takes you above the tree line into open alpine terrain, offering stunning, close-up views of Machapuchare (Fishtail) and the Annapurna range. It's one of the most scenic and rewarding days of the trek.
The trail climbs gradually from Low Camp to Badal Danda (Cloud Hill) (~3,250 m), a beautiful spot often above the clouds. After Badal Danda, the forest thins out and the landscape becomes more open, with grassy ridges and 360° mountain views. You'll walk along a dramatic ridgeline with stunning panoramas of Machapuchare, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. High Camp is a small cluster of lodges perched on a ridge, with spectacular views—especially at sunset and sunrise.
The Mardi Himal Viewpoint is the crown jewel of the Mardi Himal Trek, offering breathtaking, close-up views of some of Nepal’s most iconic peaks, including Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal itself.
Hiking Duration: 2 to 3 hours (one way)
We start early (around 4 am) to reach the viewpoint by sunrise.
After enjoying the incredible sunrise at Mardi Himal Viewpoint (approx. 4,200 m), you’ll begin your descent back to Low Camp (approx. 3,050 m), via High Camp. It’s a downhill trek that retraces the same trail but with new perspectives and better visibility in daylight.
The trek from Low Camp (3,050 m) to Siding Village (1,900 m) marks the final leg of the Mardi Himal Trek. This route exits the main trail, taking you through lush forests, small settlements, and terraced farmlands into a quiet, beautiful valley — perfect for a peaceful descent.
We have successfully completed the Mardi Himal Trekking. Today we aim for Kathmandu.
