Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586m) is the third-highest mountain in the world, securing its position among the ranks of the eight-thousanders. While it is renowned as one of the world’s tallest peaks, the trek within the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area remains relatively unknown—a hidden gem boasting a remote charm and a longer journey that awaits exploration. Once an exclusive camping odyssey, the trail now offers the option of tea-house trekking. Winding through Sikkim, India, and Tibet in the eastern part of Nepal, this trek offers a glimpse beyond Nepal’s borders. Despite its fame as a trekking destination in Nepal, it preserves an unspoiled purity—a pristine sanctuary amidst the heights of the Himalayas.
The trail showcases a living canvas of botanical diversity, encompassing a dramatic landscape that transitions from subtropical forests to the breathtaking beauty of the alpine realm at higher altitudes. In this region, you might even be fortunate enough to spot endangered species such as the Red Panda and Snow Leopard.
While this 24-day journey is tailor-made for nature and trekking enthusiasts, it also provides ample opportunities to engage with the local inhabitants as you traverse the route. The cultural tapestry unfurls gradually as you ascend through different altitudes—encountering the Rai and Limbu ethnic groups at lower elevations and the Sherpas with their Tibetan-influenced culture as you climb higher.
The trek is feasible in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, but opting for the clockwise route is advisable. This is due to better acclimatization points and superior views from the north base camp compared to the south base camp.
As your airplane glides, its massive wheels and touch down on the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, your luggage, along with yourself and your aspiration for the Kanchenjunga trek, is carefully transported to your pre-booked hotel by one of our diligent staff members.
