What the Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lakes will Have?

Following the traditional route, we will reach Everest Base Camp previous to continuing on to Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) for breathtaking views. From there, we will continue our journey to Chola Pass to enter the astonishing Gokyo Valley.

We will stay by the shore of a turquoise lake in Gokyo and hike to the top of Gokyo Ri peak, offering an unparalleled panorama of four massive Himalayan peaks of 8,000+ meters: Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Cho Oyu, in addition to Ngozumpa Glacier and other peaks.

Route Summary

Our journey conceives its first commencement with a flight to Lukla. Heading straight to Namche Bazzar via suspension bridges, grasping the effervescent view of Mt. Everest. We then walk up to Tengboche passing the rhododendron forests, Churro Glacier, and Ama Dablam Base camp. After reaching the sherpa village of Lobuche, we mark a victorious trek to date, we upscale to Everest Base Camp. Next day, Kalapathar awaits us. We beat the sun to Kalapatthar, and we wait for it. As the sun shines, those white snow caps turn golden, and naturally your jaw drops. Our final destinations include Dzongla to Gokyo and to conclude our journey we trek back to Namche bazaar following the trails of Dole.

  • Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,338 m/4,390 ft)

  • Day 2: Trek preparation and Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour

    We set off for a beautiful day exploring Kathmandu valley, observing historical, cultural, and monumental wonders.

    1. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is a sacred Buddhist stupa perched atop a hill in Kathmandu. It offers panoramic views of the city and features a striking white dome, golden spire, and the iconic all-seeing eyes of Buddha. The site is a blend of Buddhist and Hindu symbolism and is one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal.
    2. Patan Durbar Square, located in the heart of Lalitpur, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich Newar architecture and artistry. The square features ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards, including the stunning Krishna Mandir and the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple). It was once the royal palace complex of the Malla kings of Lalitpur. The area is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and living tradition, with artisans still practicing age-old crafts.
    3. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s renowned for its sacred cremation ghats, pagoda-style architecture, and spiritual significance to devotees from around the world.
    4. Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest in the world, is a sacred center of Tibetan Buddhism located in Kathmandu. Its massive white dome and watchful Buddha eyes create a serene atmosphere, where monks, pilgrims, and visitors circle the stupa in peaceful prayer.

    The trek from Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp is a rewarding journey across a rocky, glacial moraine surrounded by towering Himalayan giants. The path winds through rugged terrain with glimpses of the Khumbu Icefall, bringing you closer to the heart of Everest's climbing route.     Situated at a staggering elevation of 5545m, Kala Patthar offers you a jaw dropping panoramic view of multiple peaks including Mt. Everest. The hike is made tempting thanks to the heart-melting scenarios of Chumu Peak, Chungri Peak, and Pumo Ri. From Kala Patthar to Dzongla, the pavement is accompanied by two massive glaciers i.e. Changri Nup Glacier and Lobuche Glacier. On reaching Dzongla, you get to witness the limelight of Cholatse North.

    Trails are often rugged, demanding your full attention. Revitalising this experience we trek through Cho La Pass. We encounter other trekkers slithering through the Great Himalayan Trek route; share a smile, few words and move on. A few quality hours in, we soon reach Thangnag Kharka for pausable implementations. This is the time to get food and rest soon to embark on the rest of subduing. On reaching Cho La, the exceptional beauty of the Ama Dablam and Cholatse multiplies the flavor of the trek. Reaching Gokyo elevates your inner self. The cold yet calm greenish blue watered lake, Gokyo, will definitely leave a life lasting imprint in your heart.

    Hiking up Gokyo Ri will turn out as a key attraction during the Everest base camp and Gokyo Lakes trek. Our day kicks off with an early start, driven by the anticipation of witnessing breathtaking morning views from the spot. The pinnacle of Gokyo Ri has gained its reputation for offering the finest panoramic sights across the Himalayan expanse, encompassing expansive vistas of 8000m peaks alongside other exquisite peaks of the Mahalangur Himalayan range.

    After relishing the awe-inspiring Himalayan spectacle, we make our way back to Gokyo village. For those with remaining energy, there's an option to embark on an additional hike to either the fourth or fifth Gokyo Lakes.

    Descending from the winds of Gokyo, we march forward crossing Taujung Tsho, Long Ponga Lake, and Machherma Khola, the Views of Amadablam, Kantega, and Thamserku glitters and glamorizes your trek with the awe-trucking beauty nature has to offer. Halfway, we stop at Machermo and Luza Village, socializing with locals and embrace their cultures. Finally, upon reaching Dhole, we call it a day and try to recall all we left behind.
