The trek to Mardi Himal Viewpoint is a short yet breathtaking journey into the heart of Nepal’s Annapurna region. Tucked away from the busier trails, this route offers a more peaceful and intimate experience with the Himalayas. The trail winds through lush rhododendron forests, quiet ridgelines, and traditional villages, gradually opening up to panoramic views of Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.
Reaching the Mardi Himal Viewpoint (approx. 4,200 m) feels like standing on the edge of the world — with dramatic, close-up vistas of snow-capped peaks just in front of you. It’s a moderately challenging trek, accessible to those with basic fitness, and ideal for those seeking solitude, raw nature, and unforgettable mountain scenery in just 5 days.
Day starts with 30 minutes morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara where a jeep awaits us to take us to Kande. Kande is where we leave behind urban options. The trek from Kande (1,770 m) to Dhudhkharka is the initial segment of the Mardi Himal Trek, offering a peaceful, forested trail with glimpses of Himalayan peaks and charming rural settings. It’s a quieter alternative to the more common Kande–Pothana–Forest Camp route.
The trek from Dhudhkharka to High Camp (3,550 m) is a challenging full-day ascent that takes you through beautiful forests, alpine meadows, and ultimately to the high ridgeline offering panoramic mountain views. It can be done in one long day if you're fit and well-acclimatized.
This is the highlight of the Mardi Himal Trek — a pre-dawn hike from High Camp (3,550 m) to Mardi Himal Viewpoint (approx. 4,200 m) to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Himalayas. The trail climbs steeply along a narrow ridge with panoramic views of Machapuchare, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.
We come down to High Camp where we will have some breakfast, collect our belongings and head down towards Sidhing. The trek from High Camp to Siding Village is a long descent through changing landscapes, going from open alpine ridges back into dense forest and traditional farmlands. It’s a popular way to end the Mardi Himal Trek, as Siding offers vehicle access back to Pokhara. The Trek from High Camp to Sidhing is Strenuous.
After completing your Mardi Himal Trek, a jeep ride from Siding to Pokhara is the most convenient and common way to return. The journey takes you through scenic countryside, terraced fields, and small villages before reconnecting with the highway to Pokhara.
Flying from Pokhara to Kathmandu is one of the most scenic and efficient ways to travel between the two cities taking 25–30 minutes in the air.
