Later in the evening, we will have a brief meeting about trek preparation.
The flight to Lukla Airport is an exhilarating experience, offering jaw-dropping aerial views of the Himalayas within just 30 minutes. Known as one of the most thrilling airstrips in the world, the landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport is short, steep, and surrounded by dramatic mountain terrain.
After landing, we then move towards our destination trekking through lush hills and ridgelines.
The trek from Paiya to Panggom winds through lush forests and small Sherpa settlements, offering a peaceful and less-traveled path into the Hinku Valley. Along the way, trekkers cross ridges and suspension bridges with occasional glimpses of distant snow-capped peaks.
The trail from Panggom to Nashing Dingma crosses the scenic Panggom La Pass, opening up to expansive views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It’s a rewarding day of ups and downs through bamboo groves and remote villages, giving a deeper glimpse into the life of the lower Solu region.
The trek from Nashing Dingma to Chalem Kharka climbs steadily through quiet forests and alpine meadows, offering a sense of solitude and raw Himalayan wilderness. As the elevation rises, the landscape becomes more rugged, with distant ridgelines hinting at the high mountains ahead.
The trail from Chalem Kharka to Khola Kharka follows a high ridge with sweeping views of rolling hills and distant peaks. The path is peaceful and remote, with gentle ascents through scattered rhododendron forests and occasional yak grazing pastures.
The trek from Khola Kharka to Kothe descends gradually into the lush Hinku Valley, following narrow forest trails rich with rhododendron and moss-covered trees. As you approach Kothe, the sound of the Hinku Khola grows louder, and glimpses of towering peaks begin to appear through the canopy.
The trek from Kothe to Thangnak follows the Hinku River upstream, passing through yak pastures and beneath hanging glaciers. The valley opens wider with every step, offering dramatic views of Mera Peak and surrounding cliffs as you approach the high-altitude settlement of Thangnak.
The trek from Thangnak to Khare is a steady uphill journey across glacial moraines and rocky terrain, with the air growing noticeably thinner. As you gain elevation, Mera Peak comes into full view, standing tall above the valley and signaling your approach to base camp.
Today, we prepare you for Mera Peak summit. You will practice with ropes, ice axe, crampons under guide supervision.
The trek from Khare to Mera High Camp involves crossing the Mera La glacier, where climbers navigate snow-covered slopes with the help of crampons and ropes. Surrounded by vast ice fields and towering peaks, the campsite at High Camp offers a dramatic and humbling setting for the final push to the summit.
Standing atop Mera Peak at 6,476 meters is a surreal and unforgettable moment, surrounded by the towering giants of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kangchenjunga. The summit feels quiet and powerful, with only the sound of the wind and the crunch of snow beneath your boots. The trek from Khare to Kothe is a long and steady descent, retracing your steps through the rugged glacial valley of the Hinku region. With each drop in elevation, the air becomes thicker, and the landscape shifts from ice and rock back to alpine greenery. It’s a day of reflection and relief, passing familiar landmarks now seen from a new and more relaxed perspective.
The trek from Kothe to Thuli Kharka climbs gradually through pine and rhododendron forests, offering peaceful trails and occasional mountain views. As you ascend higher, the terrain opens up into wide meadows where yaks graze and prayer flags flutter in the breeze. The final stretch to Thuli Kharka feels remote and tranquil, setting the stage for the final crossing over Zatrwa La.
The trek from Thuli Kharka to Lukla begins with a steep ascent to Zatrwa La Pass (4,600m), where you're rewarded with stunning views of the Dudh Kosi Valley and distant Himalayan peaks. Crossing the pass feels like a final victory before the long descent through alpine ridges and forested hillsides. As you arrive back in Lukla, there's a deep sense of accomplishment and closure to the high-altitude journey.
